Kia Motors America has recently been under the radar due to issues regarding some of their models windshields. Although this time they do not specify which model, the company has previously been involved with this type of problem with its SUVs such as the KIA Telluride 2020-2022 models. The company has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it is recalling about 30,000 vehicles for inadequate bonding of windshields.
In addition, the NHTSA has over 100 reports from vehicle owners across 2020 and 2021 model years and even though the 2022 model has not been in the road for that much time, there have already been complaints as for this model. Some of these complaints go from sudden windshield fail, defrost issues and spontaneous windshield cracks while driving.
Kia notified the NHTSA that the windshields of affected models could detach from the vehicle and create increased risk of crash or injury. They believe the problem is the windshields may not have been bonded properly during the manufacturing process. They also said its dealers will thoroughly verify windshields of affected models and reinstall the windshields with the proper bonding.
Some owners are expected to be notified somewhere between April and May 2022. For further information, you can go to: https://owners.kia.com/content/owners/en/recalls.html.
